Emergency hip-replacement

Brisbane Thatch and Decks recently had a client who sent us an SOS as she had a quickly-deteriorating Bali Hut and needed urgent assistance. The roof was done poorly using poor thatching techniques by another business resulting in the hips and ridge falling out before her very eyes. Some less experienced or inferior operators manage to thatch the flat sides of the roof without too many issues however really struggle to get the most critical components being the hips and ridge completed to an acceptable standard. The existing mudbugs were fixed on using basic black zip-ties which simply cannot pull tight enough which allowed the long strands to simply come loose. We stripped the roof back, removing all mudbugs and ridge build-up and replaced it with properly made mudbugs using steel tie-wire and nails and built the ridge up to a good standard. If this was to be let go, the roof (which was only thatched a matter of a couple of years ago) would be in need of a total re-thatch and could compromise the integrity of the frame itself. However acting in a timely manner, the client saved herself a lot of heartache and money as we were able to remedy the problem before it became too dire. This really shows the importance of getting your roof done properly the first time by a professional thatch company.
